She was a healthy 7½ lb. newborn but her mother, Ethel came down with the flu that was epidemic that year and Marjorie weighed only 8 lbs. at 6 months, a "scrawny" squalling baby during her first year. She lived her first 8 years on a farm north of Ainsworth. She attended a small country school and liked learning and the other children. At age 8, she and her parents, brother Marion and sister Vera moved to Cozad, Neb., where she graduated from high school. Her favorite subject was math! They made their first home in South Gate, Calif., returning to Cozad in 1944. To this union were born six children: Karla Sue, Nancy Belle, John Stephen, Thomas James, Cynthia Lee and David Karl. They homesteaded in Cody, Wyo., and in Rupert, Idaho, where they helped build a new church. Though times often were hard, these also were good years, with lots of friends. Karla and Nancy graduated from Minidoka High School in Idaho. Karl and Marjorie vacationed along the Oregon coast north to Blaine, Wash., and were so impressed with the area's natural beauty that they moved to Blaine, where they enjoyed lots of friends and a happy life. They cofounded Broadway Christian Church in Bellingham, where they served for more than 20 years. John, Tom, Cindy and David graduated from Blaine High School. Marjorie and Karl returned to Cozad about 1992 and enjoyed retirement, traveling to Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Wyoming and Alaska. Marjorie leaves her husband Karl, the six children and their families, and numerous nieces and nephews. * * * Marjorie wrote her own obituary. Mary Theresa Leath

Our beautiful and spirited sister Mary passed away on February 11 in Melbourne, Florida. Mary was born on December 31, 1963 in Spokane to the late Arthur Leath and Dolores Leath (nee Thoreson). She attended St. Charles Parish and School and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1982. Mary had a thirst for adventure and fun, and left Spokane shortly after graduating to attend nursing school in Tacoma, WA. After earning her LPN, she joined the Air Force as a medic. Her travels took her to the Philippines, where she narrowly escaped the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo. She was ultimately stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida and loved the warmth and sunshine so much that she made Florida her home. Mary earned her RN after leaving the Air Force and worked for most of her career as an emergency department nurse., To everyone outside of her friends and family in Spokane, Mary was known as "Teres." She forged her most meaningful and long-lasting friendships with her fellow nurses and a few kindred spirits, and was surrounded by the closest of these friends and her sister Chris when she died. Mary cherished her friends, her career, and her home in Indialantic, where she loved nothing better than to "grill out" and share a bottle of wine with friends on her patio., Unfortunately, Mary's life was overshadowed by cancer. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma as an adolescent and with breast cancer in late 2003. She not only survived both diagnoses, but thrived and refused to let her spirit be subdued by the difficulties she faced. She was a fighter and a force of nature-" intelligent, witty, fearless, scrappy, and loving. She was taken from us far too soon and unexpectedly, her strong life force extinguished in the end by another bout with cancer., Mary is survived by the family that she loved above all else in her life-" her three siblings, David Leath (and wife Lorie) of Davenport, WA., Paul Leath (and wife Mary and son Adam) of Spokane Valley, WA., and Christine Leath (and husband John) of Hillsboro, OR. She is also survived by her many beloved cousins and aunts and uncles, and her childhood friends whom she considered family. We miss you Mary-" may you be at peace with Mom and Dad now., Please join us in a celebration of Mary's life in Spokane on March 26, 2011, at Arbor Crest Wine Cellars at 5:30 p.m. (4705 N. Fruit Hill Road, Spokane WA 99217: 509.927.9463). For her friends in Florida who are unable to attend, raise a glass of Chardonnay to Teres in honor of her life and love.

Raymond O. Abendroth

Raymond O. ABENDROTH 1 April 1932 ~ 14 March 2011 Ray peacefully crossed over on Monday the 14th at 8:55 AM while at Evergreen Hospice Center in Kirkland, he was 78. Born in Salt Lake City, UT to Frank H. and Eva L. (Jones) Abendroth. Ray was raised in Seattle and graduated in 1950 from Queen Anne H.S. Soon after completing school he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, spending the bulk of his three year stint in the waters off Alaska. Not long after Ray left the service he met his future bride to be, Kathleen (Kathi) A. Judkins and in 1955 they were married, beginning what was to be a 56 year journey together. The year 1960 would mark the start of his career with the Seattle Fire Dept., working out of Station 8 on Queen Anne Hill. It turned out to be his dream job. If a career and a personality ever met their match, this was it. He loved every minute of the action, the public service, and the camaraderie of his fellow firefighters, no day was ever the same. Reluctantly, he was forced to retire in 1975 due to emphysema. What was Ray like? Well, he had a mischievous sense of humor and loved to tease you if he could, making someone laugh being the ultimate destination. Ray's thirst for nuggets of knowledge could only be quenched by immersing himself in things like his books, the History channel, and the Sunday paper. He liked hunting, fishing, and camping and at the end of the day a great camp fire as a gathering place to hang with friends and family. During his life Ray valued his friendships and many, many good times were had with all he knew. Family was always a primary concern and he always reached out to help those he loved. Ray is preceded in death by his parents and his Uncle Ray & Aunt Fyrn Abendroth who took him in as their own during his teens. He is survived by his loving wife Kathi and their four children; Ron, Don, Scott, (Gloria) and Susie (Kris); and 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Allen and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.Ray no doubt will be missed by all he knew. We love you! Robert D. Lundy Sr.

Robert D. Lundy, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully February 23, 2011 with his wife and family by his side., Bob was born November 24, 1924 in Albert Lea, MN, raised by his maternal grandparents in Omaha, NE., December 8, 1941, two weeks after his 17th birthday, he joined the Navy. He drove the landing craft during the Sicily invasion, where his ship was damaged. It was repaired well enough to return to Philadelphia, where he met the love of his life, Pauline Tretter, who he lovingly called "mamacita." Bob and Pauline were married September 30, 1944. Just a few days later he shipped out, this time to the Pacific, and was there in Tokyo harbor when the war ended, and he returned to Pauline., Bob and Pauline headed West, where he worked as a tooling inspector in the steel and aerospace industries, including Boeing, Wichita and Everett. In the early 1970's he went to work for the US Post Office in Ft. Collins, CO, later transferring to Wenatchee to be near family. After retiring they settled in Marysville., Bob was honored to be a 32nd degree Mason, and proud of his time as a volunteer for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office., Our memories and stories could fill a book about this man, larger than life. So missed will be his stories, talks and advice at the kitchen table, his amazing huge pancakes on Sunday mornings, seeing him twirl our mom across the kitchen floor. So many road trips, whether for work or adventure, never missing an historical marker, no matter how remote., He was a romantic, independent, adventurous spirit with a keep sense of history. With Dad/Grandpa, it was never about the destination, it was always about the journey. But no matter how little we had or where we landed, as long as we were together, he was at home; his family was everything to him., In the last few years a variety of health issues had slowed him down, but not his spirit, or his singing of songs of years past, his sense of humor, quick wit, sly grin or twinkle in his eyes., Bob is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; one daughter, Kathy (Larry) of Marysville; four sons, Craig (Kelly) of Marysville, Robert Jr. (Debra) of Spokane, WA, Wayne of College Park, MD; and Michael (Kendra) of College Station, TX; ten grandchildren, Khris, Karen, Nicole, Jonathan, Annie, Jessica, Ashley, Katie, Adrienne and Shannon; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Derek, Emma and a baby girl due in April., Our family wishes to express our sincere appreciation for all the respect and care he received from the staff at the Marysville Care Center. Our special thank you, to Dr. Terry for all those years of compassion and caring. You were a friend to our dad.

He loved cribbage, and competing in general, and considered himself tops in the game. He was nicknamed Willie the Weep by some of his closest friends as a humorous way to relate to him when he lost, which was less often than not. He loved people and gave generously of his time and support to family, friends and community., Bill and Billie have had the good fortune of living adjacent to the Everett Golf and Country Club where they spent much of their leisure time. The story is that Bill's mother, Helen Stuchell Carpenter, helped to plant the first trees when the golf course was in its beginning stages. Bill's two favorite active sports were golf and tennis, which he played well into his eighties., Family would like to extend a heart filled thanks to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County and the loving care and support provided by his nurse, Pippa., He was a long time member of the First Presbyterian church of Everett where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26.
